The 33-year-old victim told detectives in Nassau County he was walking in East Rockaway near Althouse Avenue and Front Street around 10 p.m. Sunday, April 17, when a vehicle approached.
He said a male juvenile passenger had yelled out the window and pointed a soft water bead blaster at him and then opened fire, striking him several times, Nassau County Police said.
Water bead guns are toy guns that shoot small gel beads filled with water and are sometimes referred to as splatter guns.
Detectives with the Nassau County Police Department later found and arrested the two male suspects, ages 16 and 17.
They were both charged with criminal possession and menacing and issued Family Court Appearance Tickets.
The victim was not injured.
